Provides case commencement and professional services and administrative support to clients. Implements the effectiveness and best practices of Arbitration Case Management. Works as an advanced level Case Manager. Manages complex case issues that may arise. Assesses the overall client experience in order to identify additional business opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Handles complex cases which can include, but are not limited to, cases involving multiple parties or complex administration issues; convenes contract cases and manages case files where Panelist has either already been selected by the client(s), or when a Panelist recommendation is needed, including preparing applicable Panelist lists.
  • Provides consistent and timely commencement experiences to clients. Handles all issues that may arise in a case prior to the appointment.
  • Serves as a resource for case management on all questions including the preparation and approval of "strike lists".
  • Handles general arbitration inquiry calls and responds to website information requests.
  • Partners with the manager in conjunction with Marketing/Business development team to ensure that Panelists are being included on relevant strike lists.
  • Builds relationships and assesses the overall client experience; meets and communicates with the local manager to discuss arbitration related issues (pertinent information and potential problems).
  • Provides consistent and timely pass-off experiences to local Case Managers.
  • Provides thoughtful, carefully vetted, and diverse strike lists.
  • Oversees mass-filing matters. Takes the lead in the organization’s initial Disclosure process. Serves as a resource to less experienced APT members.
  • Manages the arbitration administration from receipt of demand through appointment and pass-off including managing any/all issues that arise before an arbitrator is appointed and liaising with the National Arbitration Committee (NAC) and the General Counsel’s office to ensure issues in arbitrations are dealt with promptly and correctly.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Operations, Management, or related field. OR Required
  • Paralegal certificate. Preferred
  • 4-6 years Comparable work experience in administration, legal experience, and client service experience. Plus
  • 1-3 years For internal candidates, proven ability as a Sr. Case Manager or similar position for a minimum of 3 years. Required
  • Mastery of the Arbitration process and procedure. (Required proficiency)
  • Ability to lead projects and interact with multiple departments. (Required proficiency)
  • Mastery of the proficiency, practice areas, and practice preferences of all JAMS Panelists that will perform services within their markets, so that the most appropriate Panelists are identified and recommended for each case. (Required proficiency)
  • Computer literate and proficient in all software programs required for the position. (Preferred proficiency)
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple responsibilities and tasks in a quick paced environment. (Required proficiency)
  • Verbal and written communication skills. (Required proficiency)
  • Must have a good understanding of the legal industry including court processes and legal terminology. (Required proficiency)
