The Practice & Client Development Manager ("PCM") enhances the visibility and recognition for JAMS, its panelists, and key initiatives focused on inclusion, pipeline development, practice areas, and growth. The PCM partners with panelists, associates, and clients to effectively implement practice development goals. Additionally, the PCM manages global, national, and regional initiatives related to inclusion and practice area initiatives. The PCM drives outreach to current and prospective clients (e.g., law firms) and other key stakeholders (e.g., corporations).

Responsibilities

What you will do

  • Builds complex practices of panelists through practice development strategic plans and resulting activities. Maintains thorough documentation of market and neutral practice development plans; monitors results regularly to adapt plans to drive goals. Ensures timely creation and distribution of internal and external communications related to assigned regions/neutrals/initiatives (e.g., panelist updates, external newsletters).
  • Partners with appropriate managers to develop and execute practice development inclusion and growth strategies in JAMS markets; conducts market and competitive intelligence research, documents plans and activity, and monitors results.
  • Liaises with legal organizations, law firms, and companies to promote JAMS; plans, produces, and moderates roundtables, legal educational programs, webinars, ADR education programs, conference sponsorships, program proposals for national and global conferences, and other events to raise the profile of JAMS and its panelists.
  • Works with regional PD teams, panelists and Marketing Communications to create relevant content, including article placement, blogs, social media postings, and updates to panelist bios.
  • Partners with the Director, Inclusive Engagement & Practice Development, to manage and facilitate JAMS' Fellowship Program. Oversees the shadowing aspect of the program; tracks goals and metrics related to the program.
  • Ensures the timely creation and distribution of internal and external communications related to assigned regions/neutrals/initiatives (e.g., panelist updates and external newsletters).
  • Researches market trends to identify further organizational business growth opportunities through practice area development and inclusion.
  • Ensures that panelists are meeting or exceeding annual practice goals and develops or revisits strategic plans when this is not the case.
  • Collaborates with appropriate constituents on requests for proposals and presents to prospective clients.
  • Monitors expenses to ensure that the practice development budget for assigned markets is not exceeded without prior agreement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Operations, Management, or related field. Required
  • 2-4 years of working in business/practice development. Required
  • 1-3 years of experience in a legal and client service role. Plus
  • 1-3 years. For internal candidates, proven ability as a Practice Development Coordinator or similar position. Required
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in job-related software programs. (Required proficiency)
  • Knowledge of the assigned markets, target practice areas, and the practice preferences of panelists. (Required proficiency)
  • Understanding of the legal industry including court processes and legal terminology. (Required proficiency)

**Travel Requirements 30% (Occasional local, regional, and national travel)**
